With the 2020 graphQL summit coming to a close it’s finally time to stop and reflect on all the information that was discussed. This article is going to sum up some of my thoughts after watching most of the talks and participating in various group discussions throughout the 2 week conference. As a GraphQL user myself, I found a lot of these discussions really eye opening. I can definitely see GraphQL API’s as becoming the de-facto way to build API’s in the next 5 years and I think the work companies like Apollo are doing to bring GraphQL to more companies is really paving the way for that. - Apollo Federation seems to be bringing GraphQL up into the enterprise space. And it’s catching on fast. The summit featured speakers such as Marc-Andre Giroux (https://twitter.com/__xuorig__) from Github and Andy Vajda from American Airlines where we heard their company’s adoption stories revolving around GraphQL. Throughout the talks I heard a lot of good things about GraphQL, but more importantly I didn’t hear anyone mention that they would like to switch back to REST. It definitely sounds like the future for these companies, and I think we’ll be seeing this adoption grow in the coming years.
